On 13 January 2007, ING Singapore held their annual Dinner & Dance at the Shangri La Hotel. This year close to 700 Singapore-based colleagues, spouses and partners from Wholesale Banking, Private Banking, Investment Management and Real Estate attended the event. As cocktails were served, the crowd was entertained with an array of entertainment including street magicians, Chinese Calligraphy, Body tattoo artists and many more.
Following last year’s success, staff set out to have fun and to raise funds for ING's Chances for Children programme through staff performing piano pieces, songs, and dances for colleagues. SMS voting allowed the audience to vote live on the top five acts to enter the finals, pledging money to support their favourite performances in the process. The overall winner was the performance which raised the most money - David Choy of ING Private Banking - with a passionate rendition of Chopin's "Fantasie-Impromptu Opus 66". In total, ING staff raised more than EUR16,200 (SGD 32,000) during the evening - surpassing the achievements of the 2006 Art Auction. With ING matching euro for euro, ING Singapore has now raised over EUR32,000 towards its 2007 target, enabling around 1,000 children to go to school for a year.
