“Run Ricky Run” is a program launched by ING Vysya Bank along with the ‘Lion’ of Cricket and Captain of the 3 time World Cup winner Australian Cricket Team Ricky Ponting. It is a unique initiative to provide primary education to the under privileged children in India.
The program commenced on Thursday June 14th 2007, will send an under privileged child to school for every run Ricky Ponting scores from now on, for the next One year, in any ‘one day international’, anywhere across the globe. Ricky has been gracious to get associated with the ING Vysya Foundation and spare his cricketing efforts for the cause of the deprived children.
Kick starting the program, Ricky Ponting enjoyed every minute of his time with the children of ‘Sukrupa’, a Bangalore based NGO. Addressing the invitees, Ricky Ponting said, “The enthusiasm shown by these children is incredible.” “Given the opportunity I have no doubts they will blossom to their full potential and make the society they live in, proud.”
“Run Ricky Run” is a supportive program for ING Vysya Foundation, the arm of ING Vysya business units (ING Vysya Life, ING Vysya Bank and ING Vysya Asset Management) to promote its Corporate Social Responsibility. The mandate for the foundation is the promotion of primary education for under privileged children.
Given the goals of the foundation, the program that has taken off now, Vaughn Richtor, Managing Director – ING Vysya Bank and Ambassador of ING Chances for Children, India stated, “This program fits well with ING’s global vision of giving children a chance to improve their future by providing them with education. The on going ING partnership with UNICEF will add to the strength of the ING Vysya Foundation”.
