2006 was an exciting year for the Foundation! Reflecting on the year that has gone by, I am delighted to see the outcome of the tremendous support that the Foundation has received over the last year in fulfilling its objective of promoting primary education for under-privileged children. What is encouraging in our endeavor is the combined support of employees along with the ING Executive and Supervisory Board members. During their recent visit to India, the Board members promised a contribution of 500 Euros each in 2007 towards the Foundation’s activities. This is further reaffirmed by Michel Tilmant’s statement, “I’ve been impressed by the many creative ways in which business units have raised money for the ING Chances for Children programme. Such is the enthusiasm that, the Executive Board has decided to match all employee donations, euro for euro, starting this year”. This certainly reinforces ING’s constant commitment towards its corporate social responsibility. It will also reflect in our actions and set a strong benchmark for us to use our skills, time and effort to set higher targets this year to help improve the lives of many. We still have miles to go before we sleep…. and I am confident that each of you will actively support the Foundation in the future. I thank you again for your effort and time taken from your demanding work. We have exciting events planned in 2007 which you will hear of shortly.
