ING Vysya employees raised Rupees 42 lakhs of funds under the Back to school campaign, which empowered about 2,700 children with primary education. This initiative aimed to give a child back its childhood. It ran successfully within the three business units of ING Vysya (ING Vysya Bank, ING Vysya Life and ING Vysya Mutual Funds) for two months and commenced from the latter part of April. The pan India internal campaign was the first of its kind which had high involvement of employees for ING Vysya’s first large scale community development programme.
At the ceremony where the cheque was handed over to UNICEF, the children of Christel House staged a short play. With support from ten Bangalore-based employees. Titled ‘Masti ki Paatshaala’, the play was a fun-filled depiction of the difference between lives led by child workers and school going children belonging to the same community. The message was communicated in an interesting manner, and dealt with the serious issue of child labour. The play very strongly stressed that a child, irrespective of whether he works or studies has an innocent perspective of the world. But if he is educated, the chances of success are only enhanced. The play was well received by the audience.
