Most people automatically assume that whenever they're asked to donate to charity that it only means in monetary terms. Charities aren't only looking for you to give back in the form of money. There are many different ways you can donate to charities in need and charitable donations, in whatever form, are always welcomed.
For example, if you want to support your son or daughter's minor hockey tournament and can't give any money to help them pay for travel expenses you can always donate your time by becoming a volunteer referee or assistant coach. Minor sports leagues thrive on the valuable time members of the community volunteer in order to help run and maintain the leagues. Even if you're busy with your day job as a real estate broker just find a time that fits your schedule to volunteer.
It's almost Christmas time and that means that there are going to be plenty of charities putting on toy drives. If you're unaware of what toy drives are they're when charities solicit donations of toys for less fortunate children who come from broken homes or families that can't afford to buy them toys. Donating brand new toys or used toys your kids don't play with any longer are welcome. Whatever it is you think children will enjoy, be it video games, dolls or movie posters, you can drop them off at your nearest charity organization running a toy drive.
Other great ways to give back that don't involve having to donate money include donating food and clothing. Many shelters are always looking for clothing and food that they can give out to those in need that frequent their facilities. Take a look around your house or horse barn in London Ontario to see if you have any clothes you no longer wear. The clothing you donate doesn't have to be brand new. While you're rummaging around your home also peek in the cabinets to see if you have any canned goods you don't need that you can also donate. There are plenty of people in need of clothes and food all year round.
If you're a Vancouver deck builder or construction worker you can always donate your services to a worthy cause. Habitat for Humanity is always on the lookout for individuals to help them build homes for families and could use your deck building skills. Whatever your skills are and whatever services you can provide would be much appreciated by the charity organization you want to help out. When it comes to donating you don't just have to donate money. There are plenty of other ways you can donate that are just as equally satisfying. |
